The Reveton Gang is at it again. This time, though, they're targeting users of Android phones -- typically visitors to porn sites. The gang that pioneered the idea of locking up a target's computer and demanding a ransom to unlock it has turned its attention to the rapidly growing mobile market. Once Reveton mobile infects a phone, it will display a bogus warning from a fractured local law enforcement authority. In the U.S. it's "Mandiant U.S.A. Cyber Security/FBI Department of Defense/U.S.A. Cyber Crime Center."

Over the next several months, we will see a massive step forward in the systems we use in our cars to connect to our phones, listen to music and watch videos. As I write this, the new Kenwood Excelon DNN991HD is being installed in my project car, and it promises pretty much everything but the kitchen sink. In August, Jaguar will start supplying a new AV system provided by Intel and compliant with Apple's CarPlay system. This is on top of the driving improvements, which will include lights that make rain and snow almost invisible.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the marketing of a prosthetic arm nicknamed "Luke" in a nod to the bionic hand grafted onto Star Wars hero Luke Skywalker after his was cut off by Darth Vader's light saber. The arm, eight years in the making, was funded by the military. It was developed by Deka Research, founded by Dean Kamen, the inventor of the Segway. "We are happy the FDA has approved the Deka Arm for commercialization," said Tom Doyon, Deka's project manager for the device. "This will let us focus on manufacturing."
