Pinguy OS is based on Ubuntu's 12.04 LTS release. It uses the Linux Mint infrastructure for package updates.

Samsung this week unveiled two new additions to its Galaxy Tab line of tablets, the S series. The Galaxy Tab S devices are its thinnest and lightest tablets, with very high-resolution screens, tons of content from third parties, and a high degree of connectivity, all of which make them strong contenders as the fourth screen. The Galaxy Tab S devices use WQXGA Super AMOLED displays with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a 16:10 ratio. In large families, it's common to pass on an older child's clothes to a younger one. The same is true in the Apple product family. It's common to pass on features introduced in the big brother iPhone to the little brother iPad. "Historically, there's been a relationship between the iPhone and iPad product launches in that the iPad inherits what was most recently introduced on iPhone," said ABI Research analyst Jeff Orr.

Residents in London, Paris, Berlin, Lisbon, Milan and Madrid all faced a day when regular cabs were not making pickups due to the drivers' strike. In London's Trafalgar Square, for instance, taxi drivers stopped cars and stayed in the streets, while handing out leaflets to others.

The latest court ruling in an ongoing battle between Microsoft and demands from the United States government for data about one of the company's users, seems to have a lot of folks running for cover. In 2013, U.S. Magistrate Judge James Francis issued a search warrant requiring Microsoft to turn over all date pertaining to the subscriber, hosted on a server in Ireland, to the U.S. authorities.
