There are two new crowdfunded projects that are building self-flying drones to follow you around and video your awesomeness. Geared for adventure sports like skiing, biking or motorcycle riding, these two drones will follow you at high-speed, capturing high-flying jumps and steep dives from angles previously available only to professional filmmakers with powerful cameras and helicopters. For the outdoor adventure set, these flying cameras are simply insane. Yet some of the coolest bits of footage are relatively mundane.

Well the days are heating up here in the Linux blogosphere, and FOSS fans are flocking to the Broken Windows Lounge as much for the frosty air-conditioning as for the conversation. Even Linux Girl, whose days generally involve far more pavement-pounding than she'd like, has found herself seeking solace in the blogobar's arctic climes far more often than she probably should. It's a good thing she has been, though, or she might have missed the latest juicy debate. "What killer app is Linux missing?" was the question that kicked things off.

Are threats to people made on social media websites protected under the First Amendment? The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to consider that issue in the case of Anthony D. Elonis v. United States. Elonis already has served jail time for threats he made on his Facebook page to his wife, an FBI agent and former coworkers. It's jail time his lawyers say their client shouldn't have served, because the wrong legal standard was used to convict him. For more than 40 years, "true threats" have been excluded from First Amendment protection.

The Internet of Things has come under attack by pranksters in recent days. The events could signal tumultuous things to come as more and more everyday objects connect to the Internet. Homeland Security has advised the customers of digital sign maker Daktronics to "take defensive measures" following a series of cyberpranks on the company's traffic signs. The DHS action was prompted by the hack of a digital traffic sign in San Francisco that warned motorists of a "Godzilla Attack."

Samsung this week unveiled two new additions to its Galaxy Tab line of tablets, the S series. The Galaxy Tab S devices are its thinnest and lightest tablets, with very high-resolution screens, tons of content from third parties, and a high degree of connectivity, all of which make them strong contenders as the fourth screen. The Galaxy Tab S devices use WQXGA Super AMOLED displays with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a 16:10 ratio. The screens deliver more than 90 percent of Adobe's RGB color coverage, according to Samsung.
